SHIP HIT: Present and Future
SHIP’s Data Quality Improvement Process has been successfully implemented! Ruby Cash, our Data Quality Improvement Specialist, held several orientations in June via webinars for all clinics that are currently connected with the Idaho Health Data Exchange (IHDE). She has also been in contact with each of those clinics to schedule clinic-specific kick-off meetings to start identifying and resolving data gaps.
Ruby’s next step will be reaching out to all seven public health districts and coordinating with their SHIP teams to plan site visits to clinics. She’ll be getting “on-the-ground” experience in each clinic environment that will equip her to implement the data quality process when those clinics are ready.
Another important component of data quality is the validation of data between IHDE and HealthTech Solutions (HTS), SHIP’s analytics subcontractor. To ensure a smooth and effective data quality process and clean data, we are working hard to resolve some of the data gaps that have already been identified. With this collective effort, we are confident we’ll be able to provide data analytics on specific clinical quality measures (CQMs) with reliable and valid data. Tracking CQMs is a critical component of ensuring effective, efficient, timely, and patient-centered care for each patient.
We understand how important these CQMs are for each SHIP clinic. Because of this, we have developed an educational/reference guide on these measures. It has been posted on our website and can be found at
